We believe that everyone deserves a quality home

Our skillful builders are enthusiastic about leveraging technology to provide healthier, longer lasting and more responsible buildings, while decreasing the cost of overall construction budgets.

 MEET OUR TEAM

Ahh, youth! Scott with his Lovely wife c.2005…We still look like this, basically.

Scott Kosmecki - Founder & Creative Operations Officer

Scott Kosmecki has been in the building and design trades since the early 90’s.   He has worked on restoration and new construction projects both large and small in his home region, the Pacific northwest and also in North Carolina, where he achieved his first degrees in sculpture and urban design and planning.  He completed his Master’s Degree in architecture through the prestigiously ‘green’ program at the University of Oregon where we worked under greats like John Reynolds, Alison Kwok & James Cuttler to name a few.  His involvement in Passive House and building science was sparked under these amazing teachers and Scott has gone on to work on a multitude of high-performance projects as well as taught and lectured at conferences nationally and regionally.

Scott started Hinge Build Group, LLC in 2014 to prove his vision for better housing based on the Passive House protocols.  Hinge designs and builds spec projects that sell very well, offers consultation & Passive House certification, and of course works with clients to produce amazing, custom architectural projects.

Resilient is an extension of Scott’s original focus to spread the hard-won lessons he has learned about great building design & manufacturing to developers and builders interested in providing the best homes we can.

Josh Himel - Business Analyst

Josh Himel comes to Resilient with a wide range of experience and education.  He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Portland State University where he focused on sustainability in the built environment and earned membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.  He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University where he studied anthropology and graduated magna cum laude.

His work experience spans many roles and industries, from manufacturing, operations management, and sales in established companies to consulting for startups.  Some relevant highlights along the way include summer jobs in residential construction during school, internal accounting and profitability systems analysis and management for a local furniture manufacturer and providing guidance on business formation/structure and operations for startups.  He gravitates toward problem solving using careful analysis and comprehensive integration of everything from detail to overarching goal.

A native Oregonian, Josh lives in Portland with his wife and two daughters. When not working or spending time with his family, he explores the beautiful outdoors of the Pacific Northwest (and beyond!) Favorite activities include hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, and snowshoeing.  He is also passionate about fostering civil and productive dialogue across political divisions and devotes time volunteering as a discussion moderator for a national non-profit working to depolarize U.S. politics and mend the tears in our social fabric.

Sushruta Chandramouli - Building Science Analyst

With a bachelor’s degree from Reed College in Biology and Physics, Sushruta has spent time bridging the realms of science research, policy, and innovation.

A lifelong resident of Portland, Oregon, his fascination with building began with an unlikely source: music. As an eleventh-generation member of his family to play a South Indian musical instrument called the veena, he experiments with instrument lutherie, furniture making, and small-scale building projects around his home.

Sushruta brings his knowledge of physical theory, research, and hands-on skills to launching the Resilient wall assembly system and ensuring that all the geeky science details are ironed out.

Kai Norman - Carpenter and Draftsperson

Kai floats between the digital and production worlds. He is a backup draftsperson capable of stepping in to create smaller projects, and also does revisions on larger ones.

Kai spends most of his time on the production floor building and verifying panels. He is also a second set of eyes on projects he is not directly building. All employees need to adhere to our strict numbering and organization rules, ensuring that all the work completed is recorded correctly and stored properly for ease of installation later.
